My main flock is Muscovy. They are followed up with my cayuga, then my Pekin, and lastly my Ruen. Gathering the eggs every day if you are going to raise them is important. Another key thing is to mark the eggs the ducks are sitting on. They will continue to lay in the nest after they have started to sit. This will leave you with half formed eggs. You may also need to take the babies when they are born and put them in the brooder because ducks are terrible parents. They Muscovy is a great brooding breed.
Duck nesting boxes can be made from anything. Ducks want to nest on the ground and they want it to be dark and private in their nest. A five gallon Buckley attached to a wood stand or a pallet house are my favorites. Ducks like to have privacy when they lay and are territorial.
