Prelude Raspberry Shrub

Prelude raspberry is identified as the earliest ripening summer red raspberry, ripening in mid-June under N.Y. conditions. Although Prelude is also fall-bearing, it produces the biggest portion of its crop in the spring. Very winter hardy and vigorous, Prelude berries are round-conic, have cohesive drupelets, and very good flavor. An excellent choice when early fruit and quality are required. Keep raspberry bushes evenly watered during the summer. Check regularly and water whenever the top inch of soil is dry. Drip irrigation or a soaker hose system is ideal for consistent moisture. Do not water during the winter, though, as that could cause the roots to rot.
