Planting Winter Lettuce, Beans, & Cabbage

In these pictures I am using a light weight garden mulch. It goes into plastic muffin containers from costco and I sprinkle the small seeds on top or insert the larger bean seeds with space in between the spots. I use a sautering iron to make drainage holes in the bottom of each container. They are placed on a shelf under my grow lights inside my indoor greenhouse to speed up the process. I will be moving these outside to my cold-frames once they are big enough. I have to wait until they germinate and it is important to keep them humid which I can do by having the lids closed. I will not open the lids until they are in need of more space to grow. Once the lids are open it is important not to let them dry out or my young plants will die. This first planting is on December 22.
